That Way

Rox and I hitchhiked to California after my dad died in September '72. Some say thumbing a ride was easier back then while others claim it’s about the same now. Getting out of town could be difficult but things smooth out once we hit the interstates. We left from Harrisburg, PA and reached Albuquerque, New Mexico in 48 hours.

Around a week later we ran into Windowpane acid in Carmel, California and ended up camping out at Big Sur for five days. Heading south on the Pacific Coast Highway, a member of the Grateful Dead’s road crew picked us up on his way to the Dead’s final concert at Winterland. He took us across the Golden Gate and right to the concert but we didn’t get in free.

The New Riders of the Purple Sage were the opening act. During the change of bands, Grace Slick of the Jefferson Airplane went on stage in a mink coat with nothing on underneath. She was belting out a tune while flashing her beautiful body but the audience did not pay too much attention to her. When they were ready, the Dead gave her a look and she reluctantly closed her coat and left the stage. She remains the best of her kind.

The Airplane, Dead and several other West Coast groups joined together and formed the Jefferson Starship in 1970. I consider their first album, “Blows Against the Empire”, the most profound musical composition of the 20th Century. The final cut on side two, “Starship”, is an anthem about the legacy of Consciousness Expansion. “Mankind Gone From the Cage” is the bottom line of their effort.

My dad was a fine man whose confrontation against hypocrisy had him dying young at 48. Our cross country trip continued his struggle as we searched for truth within the Consciousness movement. We left with $110 and returned to Rox’s parents in Harrisburg with 50 cents in my pocket 35 days later. Circulating through where Neurotransmitters reigned confirmed our ambitions. We hear daily microdosing is a trend out West now.

I haven’t mentioned religion or ETs in this posting. Many friends find my relationship with our Creator hard to believe because they doubt He exists. Father is quite different than what we hear from organized religions. What ETs perceive as God was defined by Abraham as the one cast away. That’s the main reason humanity is a separate kingdom.

Amending how ETs apply their technology is my current focus. If they remain hidden after their personality changes is okay with me. They are learning we only find Father through Jesus and will eventually be grateful He has things that way.
